Romeos' Arrival =]

Okay, So originally I was goign to get the dumbo rat tomorrow around 4, BUT I got too ecited and so we got him today. His name is Romeo and he is 3 months old. He's also the runt of the liter so he is very small. hehehe.

He. is. adorable. hehehe. Also, as you know, my BOYFRIEND Matt got one today as well. He's from the same liter so he is also 3 months old. He's really cute and his name is Rigby. :P The picture that I'm posting here IS NOT OUR RATS, but just a picture of some other 3 month old baby dumbos that I thought were pretty cute.

So far I've:

  • Introduced the new babies to the other rats

  • Gotten the cage set up

  • loved them dearly

The introduction went VERY well actually. They all got along and no fights broke out. I don't think the adults felt very threated by the tiny babies. Which is good. :)

Facts about Rats

  • The first albino rats to be bred in captivity were born to a single albino rat captured in a graveyard in England by Queen Victoria's royal rat catcher Jack Black.
  • Sprague Dewley rats, a strain of laboratory rat, can birth more then twenty pups per litter.
  • According to the Guinness Book of World Records the longest lived domestic rat died at seven years and four months of age (which far exceeds the 2-3 year expected lifespan.)
  • The first astronaut rat launched from France into outer space in 1961.

  • Soda does not make rats explode. ( Who came up with that anyway?? )
  • Rats have bellybuttons.
  • Rats don't have gallbladders or tonsils.
  • Rats can't vomit. A rat can, however, gag on something if it eats too quickly. The plus side of this is that rats can usually eat and drink before surgery.

Talk with Naomie

Okay, so, I just got off the phone with Naomie. She's going to be the person giving me the 2 dumbo rats tomorrow at 4. I've already had mine picked out, but Matt hasn't been here yet to pick his out. I've yet to pick a name. Anyone got any suggestions? I was thinking something like butterbean or something wierd like that. haha.

So the picture I'm adding ISN'T the rat I'm getting. I just think it's cute! xD So, now I won't be able to sleep tonight for being so excited. Haha. I absolutely LOVE dumbo rats. They are the cutest by far.

BUT SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO SAY THEY ARE FREAKS. WHICH ISN'T TRUE AT ALL.

Thanks.

First Blog! Me & the boys!

Today I'm blogging my first blog! Okay, so, I have 2 male rats! They are both Albino and both sweet. Their names are Moose and Sargent Pepper. Tuesday, I'm going to meet up with my breeder to get 2 more little boys. Only 1 won't be mine. 1 will be my friends. I'm just getting him one.
So, here's the deal, I can't figure out what I'm going to name him yet. He is going to be a multi-colored dumbo. :D & I'm just SO excited for his arrival. I have a 4 story cage so I KNOW they will all be comfortable. They have 2 water bottles, 2 food dishes, and 2 hammocks. :P I think I'm doing pretty well so far.
I'm currently teaching Moose to do tricks. Sargent Pepper doesnt learn very well. Haha. I'm teaching him to fetch and to spin and to walk on his back legs. xD SO cute.
Wanna learn how to teach your rats these tricks? Just email me. I'll try my best to help with the steps. Thanks Guys!
